This place is great! Not only is the curriculum great, but the staff is great as well. It is convenient for after school care and I feel like my kids are doing something they like and actually learning something rather than watching movies and coloring which is what they did at past day cares. You can tell the staff have a passion for their job and care about your child's success. I could not have made a better decision for after school care for my kids!

After spending three years forcing our children to go to karate classes, we decided to change schools. We have been at ATA kemah for almost three months. I was amazed that my children are wanting to be in every extra class, not wanting to leave, and having the time of their lives. Their technique is improving and their skills are being challenged. We really love the small classes, attention to detail, the opportunity to spar at competitions, and the teachers desire to help every student learn. Did I mention parents can take class too as part of the family plan they offer. Kickboxing is so much fun! Come join the fun and learning.

Leaders for Life really has changed my life. After I saw a difference in my sister, I was eager to join the team. My sister’s overall confidence, self-motivation, self-discipline and leadership skills have improved significantly. She’s on her way to being a wonderful leader now and she couldn’t have done it without Leaders for Life. They really do create leaders from the inside out, and it’s not just for kids, but adults too. Every child and adult can and will live a better life once they become part of the Leaders for Life family. Thank you so much team L4L!!!

Goal Setting – Unleash Your Child’s Potential

Goal setting is one of the most highly linked characteristics to the success that individuals have. Top athletes and successful people all use goal setting. And while it is a trait that is most often associated with adolescents and adults, younger children can also benefit greatly from beginning this life skill at an early age.

Learning how to set reasonable and attainable goals is a valuable lesson for children of all ages. Studies show that goal setting helps children improve their self-discipline and self-awareness. It also increases their internal drive so that they stay motivated to complete the goals they set for themselves. By accomplishing their goals, children’s self-esteem automatically increases, and they have more motivation towards setting future goals.

For children that are just beginning to set goals, it is important that they have tangible and immediate successes to keep them motivated. Goal setting should also be fun so that they will stay interested and continue setting goals throughout their lives. This will help them build the habits necessary to achieve important goals as they continue into adulthood.

In the Leaders for Life Program, short- and long-term goal setting and achievement are at the very core of it. The goals are not intended to create pressure on the student, but rather to encourage them to do their best so that learning and effort is valued. Because Leaders for Life utilizes game-based learning in this process, the students have fun while they put effort towards the drills. By setting these goals and achieving them, the students will unleash their potential.

Short term goals are addressed in class each day. Students are trained on a skill each day, according to their age group. At the end of the class, the students are given an opportunity to perform the skill for the instructor. When they have completed this skill successfully, they earn a stripe for their belt. These short-term achievements keep them motivated to continue to set new goals for themselves and work to accomplish them.

As the students work towards earning all eight stripes on their belt, they are ultimately working towards their long-term goals for the testing cycle. The long-term goal accomplishment will be finalized through testing where the students will perform all skills they have learned and, finally, receive the next belt in their level. And as an added bonus, goal-setting is addressed as an additional 4 week life skill program each year.

But not only does Leaders for Life utilize the stripes and belt system, it also incorporates additional goals that students can work towards. These include being a part of the STORM Team, which is a leadership program, Elite Leaders for Life, which is a program of higher-level challenges, and Demo Leaders for Life, which is an invitation only program that students can work to become a part of.

To succeed in life, we must know exactly what it is we are trying to do. This is the first and foremost secret of successful people – a secret we give as a gift to our students when we teach them how to set goals. By doing this, we are creating positive habits of setting goals that will carry over into adulthood.
